Arie Maasland was a Dutch musician and composer. Many of his works were released under the moniker ‘Malando’. His total oeuvre contains around 150 compositions. He wrote for orchestras, concert bands and other media. Maasland has been awarded many times, such as in 1959 in Pavia, Italy with the Oscar Mondiale as best accordionist, in 1964 with the Edison Prize and two years later with the Golden Harp. In 1973 he received a royal decoration.
